Mikawa Nagura Stone
Sometimes called the Mikawajiro, nagura stones are quarried in Aichi prefecture. When you sharpen your tool on a natural finishing stone or high grit synthetic stones, sometimes it's hard to get good slurry out of the stone right away. When this happens you should rub a nagura stone on the surface of your finishing stone with water. Nagura produces silky smooth slurry, use this slurry first to sharpen and it will help release the sharpening compound from your finishing stone. It's basically a slurry booster.
