Sori kanna (Curved bottom plane) is used to finish a work that needs a curve, such as a back of a chair.
The blackmith for the Shunran series is 3rd generation Tsunesaburo who is a plane maker in Miki City, Hyogo prefecture. The blade is stamped with the character "Shunran" which translates to spring orchid.
The chipbreaker which is the second blade that comes with the plane, breaks the wood fibers immediately after they are cut and reduce tears.
