The blade is made of high carbon steel laminated with soft steel on the outside. The blade is beveled on one side only. Since the cutting edge is much thinner compared to the double edged hatchet, it is useful for delicate works such as carving and scraping wood, or for cutting thin branches or clearing bushes outdoor.
