Tobisho SR-1 Pruner
Tobisho, run by the Totsuka family is currently at their fourteenth generation. They were originally a samurai sword blacksmith which is considered to be the highest tier of blacksmiths in Japan. However, at their tenth generation entire Japan was being modernized and demand for samurai swords were gone. Most sword blacksmiths changed to knife blacksmiths, Totsuka family decided to become scissors and pruner blacksmiths. The SR-1 is their award winning model that is fully forged from single piece of high carbon steel. One will immediately notice the difference in sharpness and cleanness of the cut when using this for the first time. It is required to clean and oil this pruner after each use or it can grow rust. We highly recommend our yanipika sap remover and camelia oil for this application.

Mitsukawa SK Fine teeth Ryoba Saw
Mitsukawa is saw blacksmith in Miki city Japan with hundred years of history currently at their third generation. While many saw makers fully modernized their automated manufacturing process of replaceable saw blades, Mitsukawa continues to hone his traditional blacksmithing. His saws are not only loved by traditional carpenters but when the Japanese emperor needed a pruning saw for his garden, it was the Mitsukawa who forged one for his majesty. This particular model is a small double sided saw made using SK steel. It has finer teeth for smaller detailed work, this one is a perfect introduction to hand made Japanese saws.
