The tightness of the blade can be easily adjusted with the knob on the handle. By rotating the knob clock-wise, the blade tightens to be able to cut grasses and soft plants. When the knob is rotated counter clock-wise, the blade widens and can be used to cut hedges or slightly thicker plants. The blade is coated with teflon, making it resistant to rust and sap and can be easily cleaned with warm, soapy water.
